How good are you at learning new things?
This page explores improving your ability to learn new subjects by planning and setting targets.
Some people find it easy to learn a new subject by simply reading a book. Others find it easier if
someone explains it to them personally.
To show how good you are at the levels below, you have to provide evidence that you can:
- First work out what you want to achieve and set yourself targets.
- Talk about your understanding of your short-term targets.
- Create a plan to achieve your targets and follow it. (Do the most important things first.)
- Improve your performance by studying a subject and learning an activity.
- Check your progress and achievements.
- Help set short-term targets.
- Take responsibility for your learning, using your plan and support from others.
- Improve your performance by studying a subject and a practical activity.
- Review progress and provide evidence of your achievements.
- Agree targets and plan how these will be met over an extended period of time.
- Take responsibility for your learning by using your plan, using feedback and support.
- Improve your performance by studying a complex subject; learning through a complex practical
activity and further study or practical activity that involves independent learning.
- Review progress on two occasions, establish evidence of achievements and show transfer
of learning.
