This area explains how you can improve your personal development and the key skills you will need to do this.

Use the Key Skills specifications in this area to find out:

  • What you need to know.
  • What you have to do.
  • What evidence you will need for your teacher to verify.

If the work that you are doing is to satisfy the criteria, you must make sure that you have covered all of the requirements that are identified in the Detailed Specifications.

Choose a specific key skill area from the drop-down menu to see information about that key skills area. Many of the key skills can be linked within one piece of work and you will be able to see the requirements of the different key skills levels within that area.

The different areas of key skills are:

Key Skills training is broken down into 3 levels:

  • Level 1 is the most basic, level 2 intermediate, level 3 the most advanced.
  • When you have achieved one Key Skill level you may want to progress to the next level.
  • The main feature of Key Skills is that you work more independently as you move from one level to another.
  • Part of your progression may involve further study.
  • Part of your progression may also involve additional responsibility at school, work or in the community.
